Shrouds of the Somme Schools Programme

Our goal with the schools programme was to give school pupils the opportunity to develop a lasting emotional and intellectual response, both to the Shrouds of the Somme installation and in learning about the bloodiest battle in British history, within the context of the great war, which changed so many lives irreparably. We created free resources for KS2 and KS3, workshops for local schools and provided the opportunity for school groups to visit the installation at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, to give young people a better understanding of what those huge numbers of losses actually mean.
