The Trench at Aerospace Bristol
The Trench exhibition at Aerospace Bristol concluded on Sunday with several thousand visitors over the weekend. This was the last time the Trench will be on display before being taken apart in preparation for our final event in London this November.
Shrouds of the Somme Chairman, Cdre Jake Moores OBE, was at the event for the duration and has this to say:
“The Shrouds of the Somme Trench has completed an extremely successful Exhibition at Aerospace Bristol. Almost 10,000 people visited over the sixteen days the Exhibition was open and huge emotions were displayed as everyone was visibly moved by Rob’s iconic piece of art. Shrouds of the Somme would like to thank Aerospace Bristol, South Gloucestershire Council, YTL, Wessex Water, Airbus, SSAFA Bristol and all those who volunteered for their generous contribution to a wonderful event.”
YTL and Wessex Water made this amazing film for us with the Trench opening ceremony which really captures the essence of the exhibit:
We would also like to take this opportunity to thank DHL who have stored and transported the Trench for us and will also be helping us at our final event next month.
Shrouds in the News
It was Rob’s first visit to the monument, which contains all of the names that he has become so familiar with whilst creating the Shrouds over the past few years. Veteran royal photographer, Arthur Edwards captured the moment and Rob also spoke to John Maguire from the BBC about the project. You can read all about it in the Sun article here and watch the news report here below. The Lost Lives exhibition will be at Thiepval until 5th November.
Our Kickstarter Crowdfunding campaign is continuing steadily. We hit the minimum funding goal in just under 2 weeks and now we are aiming to smash it! The campaign got a huge boost from Chris and the team at Pick my Postcode and we can’t thank them enough for featuring us in their video draw and blog a couple of weeks ago it really helped us to get off to a great start.
